Good health is a wonderful gift. Proper digestion is vital for overall health. The liver is one of the largest internal organs in the body and has many key functions.

The liver is also the cleaning organ in your body, and it needs to be in good shape. A healthy liver is necessary for a complete working body, and you have to take the best care of it.

This post discusses healthy lifestyle changes and finding out if supplements may help you achieve your goal of maintaining a healthy liver.

The Liver

The liver is the largest glandular solid organ, located in the upper right abdomen below the diaphragm, and behind the ribs. The liver extends across the midline to the left side.

Multifunctional

The liver has many functions, which include the following:

  • aids in food digestion
  • perform many important bodily functions simultaneously
  • process and distributes nutrients
  • filters about 1.7 liters (2.99 pints) of blood per minute
  • acts as a detoxifier from harmful ingested substances

X-ray organsInteresting Facts

Approximately 7,100 liver transplants were performed in the US in 2015.

Almost 600 of those patients were 17 years old and younger.

The liver can regenerate itself! If at least 25% of the healthy liver stays healthy, it can become whole again.

A deceased donor´s liver can be cut into 2-parts. The larger part may go to an adult recipient, and the smaller part, to a child.

A living donor transplant occurs when a living person donates a part of their healthy liver to someone. It usually involves a family member.

In both the living donor and recipient, the liver grows back to normal size.

Common Liver diseases

The danger of toxic build-ups can affect almost every part of the body, (brain, nerve cells, muscles, glands, and blood cells). The liver is the main organ responsible for breaking down medications-prescriptions/non-prescription that enter your body.

If these substances are not eliminated, they can cause serious problems, such as organ damage, cancer, neurological disorders, and in some cases, even death.

Acute liver failure occurs when a severe liver injury/damage takes place suddenly and without any signs of pre-existing liver damage.

Fatty liver occurs when the fat content of the liver is 10% or above. The liver stores excess fat, and the fat in liver cells can build up. Fatty liver can increase your risk for diabetes. The fatty liver fails at storing glycogen made by glucose from food.

Cirrhosis of the liver occurs when the liver builds up excess scar tissue.

Some symptoms

Some liver conditions have no symptoms, but the following could be signs of possible liver conditions:

  • jaundice
  • gas bloating issues
  • constipation
  • dark urine
  • anxiety, depression, moodiness

How to protect yourself against liver diseases

  • avoid frequent over-eating
  • avoid too much alcohol consumption
  • eat healthy meals full of vegetables and fruits
  • decrease risky behaviors such as illegal drug use or unprotected illicit sex
  • get vaccinated against hepatitis A & B

Risks that could lead to liver malfunction

  • low levels of potassium in the body
  • exposure to harmful environmental toxins/industrial chemicals
  • high triglyceride levels in the bloodstream
  • unsanitzied body piercings/tatoos

Who should consider taking supplements?

Sometimes your daily food consumption is not met through the foods you eat. Supplements may help you get adequate amounts of essential nutrients if you don´t get them through diet.

High-risk people, those with some medical conditions may benefit from supplements. You should consult your doctor when considering taking supplements.

Supplements can support sufficient nutrients and minerals in the body. The intent of supplements is to provide these nutrients and minerals to increase the overall quality of a person´s consumption of these ingredients.

But taking supplements does not mean you have to be lax about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It would help if you continued to eat a balanced diet with many fruits and vegetable servings as possible, cut back on unhealthy fats, avoid processed foods with too much sodium and sugars, exercise, and practice good stress relief techniques.

Too much of anything may not be good. The same is true for supplements. Supplements are products that support your diet. They should never take the place of healthy meals.

Customer Reviews

I was a hardcore alcoholic for the past 25 years. All this took a toll on my liver, and I suffered from severe liver damage. I started on some drugs, which my friend recommended – however, they had too many unpleasant side effects and made me feel completely sick. I started researching herbal liver pills as I felt – they being natural, would be safe to use. True to my belief, I started on this herbal pill – VitoLiv, and what a difference it made in my life. My liver feels renewed, and words fall short to describe how much I feel about this herbal pill – VitoLiv!

Exactly last year, I was diagnosed with Viral Hepatitis when I complained of typical symptoms like swelling, poor appetite, eye fatigue, tiredness, etc. I was hospitalized for the same for a week or so, and during this period, I was administered a drug that brought me numerous side effects like high fever, headache, muscle pain, etc which, later on, became quite unbearable. That’s when I approached an herbalist who recommended me VitoLiv – to my amazement, this product worked faster and better than all leading synthetic drugs. Then, when I went for a medical test, my doc was surprised to see my medical reports as they are quite positive. I thank VitoLiv for granting me a new lease on life…

My daughter had developed severe jaundice – hence was always very sick. I tried several pills and treatments, but nothing seemed to help. In fact, the puking had worsened over time. I desperately wanted my daughter fit and healthy soon. I started with VitoLiv treatment after browsing through the net. I am so grateful that I came across this website, as within days of consuming this herbal pill – my daughter was showing drastic improvements. Thank you so much for renewing my daughter’s life!

Banana Smoothie is one of the best homemade detoxes to deep clean the liver. Banana is rich in potassium and helps lower systolic blood pressure. Blend 2-3 bananas in 1 cup of milk of your choice.

Beetroot has anti-inflammatory properties, can repair cells in the liver, helps the liver get rid of the toxin, and reduces the level of blood sugar in your system. You can mix 2-3 beetroot, 2-3 carrots, and 2-3 apples in a blender with coconut water for added flavor.

Conclusion

The liver is a vital organ in the body that has many tasks, which are done simultaneously. It is wise not to exert the liver further by over-eating and drinking too much alcohol.

Also, exercise is one of the best solutions to keep your liver healthy. Lifestyle changes can reverse liver damage. Some people do not get an adequate supply of necessary minerals and vitamins in their meals, and perhaps a supplement like VitoLiv could be helpful.

  1. Health is wealth, we all owe it to our bodies to live healthily. There are important major organs that may malfunction if we are careless with our bodies, so it is wise to make healthy choices.

The Liver is a very vital organ and the body cannot function without it. Supplements are recommended; when one is not getting enough nutrients from the diet as you mentioned.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you, Bethel, for your kind response. Maintaining health is important and it can only be done through healthy lifestyle changes.

Though it may be a slight challenge to make healthier choices in diet, exercise, and helpful stress reduction strategies, the rewards of being in good health, having energy throughout your day, and living a rich and fulfilling life far outweighs any small challenges.

If you turn your choices into habits, it will make the whole process easier. Because habits flow on auto-pilot. There is a transition period for people who do not eat healthily to get the necessary nutrition that is lacking in their diets through supplements. However, once they get back on track the supplements may not be necessary.

Supplements are used for a period of time to give support for what your body lacks. They are not meant to take the place of healthy meals. Supplements are meant for support, not a replacement.

  2. Hey thanks for this post, it is really interesting to read these amazing facts about our precious organs but not only that but also how to keep them healthy!

Wow, I didn’t know the liver can repair itself that’s cool! As for the rest of the information, I’m going to take note of how to look after the liver and the supplement would be a great suggestion for my neighbor who is a smoker and in her 70s. I think she definitely needs some supplements!

Thank you for your input, and for reading the article. We are happy that you were able to get valuable information from it.

It is very kind of you to be concerned about your neighbor and to share this article with her. However, it would be in your neighbor´s best interest to consult her physician before taking any supplements.

Perhaps her physician knows her health condition better than you or I? You could encourage her to speak to her doctor to see if it would be right for her.
